It\u2019s no wonder then, that the appearance of a full moon\"Opens<\/a>, the brightest and most complete of the moon\u2019s phases, is an event most associated with mystic powers and spiritual entities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

To Wiccans, the full moon is a time to be celebrated: It\u2019s the time when cycles renew, bringing completion, conclusion and fruition. It\u2019s also a time for rituals and spell casting: When the moon is bright and full, its powers are at their most potent.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In this article, we\u2019re going to help you to make the most of the full moon\u2019s heightened energy, and explain some of the full moon magic rituals and ceremonies that Wiccans use during these special nights:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Wiccan Esbat<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

You might have already heard of the \u201cSabbats\u201d, or the holiday celebrations that Wiccans plan around the cycles of the rising sun (equinox and solstice for example). Esbats are similar in principle, but take place during an evening of a full moon. That means that an Esbat can happen every 29 days, or once per lunar cycle. That makes the Esbat a smaller scale, more frequent celebration. A little bit like Sundays in the Christian faith.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

An Esbat is a time to conduct healing work, psychic training and spellcraft. It\u2019s also an opportunity for a social gathering and a good time to celebrate the natural world.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Drawing Down the Moon<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The \u201cDrawing Down the Moon\u201d ceremony is probably the most famous of all Wiccan and Neo-Pagan full moon magic rituals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The ceremony is sometimes known as the \u201cDrawing Down of the Goddess\u201d, and features heavily in most modern Wiccan traditions. During the ritual, the head of a coven will enter into a trance-like state, requesting that the Triple Goddess\"Opens<\/a> (symbolised by the full moon) enters her body and speaks through her.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u201cDrawing Down the Moon\u201d is a powerful full moon magic ritual. It doesn\u2019t require a head witch and it can even be done alone. This ritual can be perceived by non-Wiccans as being somewhat sinister. Don\u2019t let those old fashioned taboos put you off: There\u2019s certainly nothing \u201cevil\u201d or dangerous about this ritual, it\u2019s simply a potent way to gain clarity and guidance from the lunar goddess, as well as supercharging your inner being for better spell working during the month ahead.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
